The Cincinnati CPCU Chapter hosted a Good Works project at Matthew 25: Ministries on Saturday, July 29th. All Chapter members and their families were invited to attend this event and we were pleased to have 30 registered volunteers on site that day!
All new volunteers were given the opportunity to tour their Global Village—an interactive three dimensional display that recreates disaster and poverty scenes around the world. The tour allows visitors to gain a real-life picture of the need for help in the U.S. and in developing countries. It also provides a context and understanding around the tangible impact participants make when they volunteer in the Processing Center.
The volunteer coordinator assigned our group the simple task of opening large boxes of cooling body cloths, breaking down the boxes, organizing the packets in sets of twos, and taping them together. These packets would eventually be combined with other personal care supplies to create a complete care-package for individuals in need. The time went quickly as participants got to sit down and work in small groups while networking with each other.
